Vzor MASTER

SANDEWERK

The shoe has an upper made of synthetic leather with a PU coating. The shoe is richly bandaged around the foot to prevent blisters or abrasions to the foot during wear.

The shoe has a hidden internal velcro fastening, the ankle is also fixed on the sides via velcro. Finally, the ankle is fixed with a clamping strap around the foot.

To ensure safety in the field, the shoe is equipped with reflective elements in both the front and back of the shoe.

The hoof can function optimally in the boot, the boot does not restrict it in any way and thanks to the soft bandage it does not press. The sole is rubber, which allows for a soft tread and shock absorption, which is then transmitted to the entire body of the horse. The hoof must be free of horseshoes, smooth, clean, and free of burrs that could damage the lining of the shoe.

It is important to determine the exact size of the shoe so that the shoe fits the hoof well and there is no risk of losing the shoe in the field.

The boots for horses are symmetrical; the right and the left leg only differ in the fastening of the outer fastening strap. The small metal vamp oval must be oriented towards the leg. After the strap is pulled through the small oval, the end of the strap is oriented outwards so that it does not impede the horse when walking.

How to put on the shoes

The horse shoes are factory-fitted as they will be put on and attached to the hoof, so at the very beginning of using the shoes, we recommend unfastening only one shoe and leaving the other as a fastening pattern and checking the correct procedure.

BOOTS FOR BACK LEGS

The boots marked as BACK (B).

The method of measurement is the same as in the case of the front leg. The sizes are given in the chart. An insertable insole is also added to these boots to eliminate the difference between a trimmed and untrimmed hoof.

The boots can also be used for front legs without any problems in the case of a narrow and long hoof. We strive to ensure that there is a variant of boots nearly always available that will be suited for various breeds and their crossbreeds. When choosing suitable boots, it is necessary to proceed on the basis of the above hoof sizing charts. However, of the same importance is an assessment of the horse breed – the position of the heels and the leg shape, i.e. whether they are cold-blooded horses with strong, massive hooves and strong legs, or warmbloods with slim legs (pastern), or half-Thoroughbreds with various combinations of hoof shape.

When choosing a suitable type of boots, we recommend that you should consult an expert – a blacksmith, farrier, vet or users who have experience using hoof boots. Similarly, we can give advice on choosing suitable boots if those who are interested contact us.

SANDEWERK BOOTS

The boots from SANDEWERK respect the anatomy, biomechanics and function of the hoof and also protect and support it. These are boots for any type of terrain. Their benefits include lightness and unique flexibility. They are perfect for hoof rehabilitation as well. The hoof length and width (unless the hoof is atypical) is decisive for choosing the right size. The boots protect the hooves on hard surfaces, such an asphalt or concrete road, as well as in tough terrain in the countryside. In the event of an ill or damaged hoof, the boots can be used as a means for treatment and rehabilitation. By arrangement, boots can be manufactured separately for each foot.

Considering our findings from testing on various horse breeds, we have decided to make adjustments to boots for front hooves. These adjustments concern mainly warm-blooded horses, which although having an almost identical hoof footprint, they have considerably slimmer legs. That is why it is not possible – at least with our boot design – to use the same boots for both warm- and cold-blooded horses.

Also, the entire front hoof in warmbloods is similar – in terms of shape – rather to a back hoof, and a boot that is designed for a normal front hoof then does not follow the hoof profile. In addition, although the boot is fixed firmly to the leg, an aesthetical issue arises as the boot “breathes” in the heel because the heels of the hoof are in a lower position and the horse has a narrower circumference of the pastern above the hoof. In the case of warmbloods, the tibia has a circumference of around 21 cm, whereas it is 24 cm or more in coldbloods. For this reason, we are including in our offering boots that are specially adapted mainly for warmbloods. The boots adapted in this way follow the hoof shape well and fit the leg perfectly. The boots are marked as FRONT SLIM (FS). The marking is on the label under the tongue and on the packaging.

When ordering boots, it will be important to specify – besides the size – also the fact whether the boots are intended for horses with slim legs – warmbloods.

Maintenance of boots

If boots are soiled with mud to a great degree, we recommend rinsing the boots with water and, if appropriate, washing them by hand in soapy water, and then rinsing them with clean water again. Dry them at a moderate temperature of 40 °C at most. Also, it is advisable to clean the hook-and-loop fasteners on the boots with water and, if necessary, the hard part – hooks – using a brush. The soft part of the hook-and-loop fasteners – the pile – just needs to be rinsed with water but not rubbed with a brush to prevent the structure of the loops from being disrupted.

Life of boots and warranty

Individual models are made of high-quality materials. However, a long life is conditional on maintaining the hooves to prevent damage to the internal part of the boots. The boots must fit well on the hooves, they must be correctly fastened and attached. In addition, their life depends on the frequency of riding, surface, and riding style. When testing and wearing the boots, we have not found any problem concerning quality. Based on competitive offers, the warranty period is 6 months. However, it may happen that fastening straps or hook-and-loop fasteners get damaged. The models are designed in such a way that it is possible to repair them even in home conditions. If the owner does not have such possibilities, we will carry out a repair free of charge even after the end of the warranty period. The owner will pay the postage only. Of course, the boot(s) must be cleaned. If the rubber loop is damaged, it can be easily replaced with an O-ring that is readily available in the market. The sewn-on elastic loop can be easily replaced with an ordinary linen elastic and sewn on by hand.

CONCLUSION

The manufacturing company reserves the right to make changes in the materials while maintaining qualitative parameters in the event that there are problems in the supply of materials or in transport. We always welcome any feedback from the users so that we can further develop our design and production activities or enhance the comfort of our boots.
